An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
– Henry de Bracton
With
the increasing figures in crime against women and
children, the Philippine National Police (PNP) in
coordination with the local government, non-government
organizations and the academe, among others are
conducting series of dialogue and discussions to the
community.
These programs are created to protect the populace and
armed them with the basics of self-defense.
With
this, WNU’s Alumni, Information and PR Office organized
the Crime Prevention Seminar at Holy Family High School-
Sum-ag, last November 23, 2009 led by the student
ambassadors of WNU- College of Criminal Justice
Education.
The
team is composed of John Michael Andales, Ben Bejemino,
Chatty Cabahug and Ella Mae Nardo who shared with the
students the lessons they learned inside the classroom.
Topics like; crime prevention tips, securing your homes
and belongings from robbers, what-to-do when you are
under threat, reporting a crime, safety tips on the
streets and in commercial centers, commuter’s safety and
tips for women, among others.
The
CCJE ambassadors also executed some easy defensive moves
to counter suspicious individual and to preempt possible
attacks.
The
program through which student ambassadors are encouraged
to share themselves and everything that they learned in
school especially to high school students is a
year-round activity. It also aims to further develop the
Wesnecans on how to express themselves, their ideas and
in articulating them to the group.* (rrm/aipro)
