The Philippine Institute
of Civil Engineers (PICE) and the
Department of Education recently
hold a ground breaking ceremony of
West Negros University’s winning
entry in the PhilGreen School Design
Competition at Vista Alegre
Relocation Site, Bacolod City.
A memorandum of
agreement between PICE Inc.
represented by its Negros Occidental
Chapter President, Engr. Romie G. Li
and DepEd Division of Bacolod City
led by Schools Division
Superintendent, Ma. Gemma M. Ledesma
was recently executed for the
construction of a one-room preschool
which is energy efficient and use
recycled waste materials for the
said school design.
The preschool will be
using WNU Eco-Blocks as exterior
walls, rain water harvester for
harnessing rainwater for water
supply, solar bottle bulbs for
lighting system and 6Liter plastic
bottles for columns.
This particular design
was entered by the PICE-Student

Chapter of WNU and placed third in
the PICE-National Chapter PhilGreen
School Design Competition held at
DPWH-Region 7 in Cebu City last May
9, 2012.
The site of the school
will be at Vista Alegre-Granada
Relocation Elementary School (VAGRES),
Abada Eskay, Bacolod City.
Present during the
