The German Development Service (DED) through its junior volunteer endorsed sets of football equipment to West Negros University’s football team, recently.

The turn-over activity was held last July 7, 2010 at the LNAM Sports Center and attended by the following; Lennart Elischer, Mr. Elmer J. Bolivar- Vice-President for Administration, Norman Fegidero- football coach, Dr. Nomer Mangulabnan – director of Research Development & Extension Office (RDEO), Victoria Demonteverde, Kim Dumdum and the football players, among others.

Elischer expressed his hope that the equipment which include; 43 soccer balls, 57 pairs of jersey, spike shoes, socks and gloves, among others will be used by the players to further their skills and bring more honor to the university who has been bringing in championship medals and accolades for the past decades.

Mr. Bolivar, on the other hand accepted the P60, 000 worth of donations from Elischer with a thankful heart in behalf of WNU management. He expects that the equipment will help upgrade the sports program of the University and further expressed his appreciation to the DED for being partners in the thrust to help the youth achieve their full potential and become outstanding in their fields.

Donations for WNU’s adopted community; specifically materials to be used in the preschool were also accepted by Bolivar from another junior volunteer, Rebecca Hadler who is assigned at the Research Development and Extension Office (RDEO).

Finally, Bolivar said he hope more donations from DED will come that will help the students and the adopted communities of the University.

Three Junior volunteers of the German Development Service (DED) and Welwarts; Elischer, Hadler and Nathalie Dangel has been with WNU since September 2009 and for almost a year been serving the Wesnecan community in the different facets like sports development, community extension and environmental efforts. They were also given financial grants to be translated into projects supporting their area of responsibility, thus the sports equipment and other items.* (rrm/aipro/wnu)
