“Carry o ut
a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward,
safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the
same for you.” - Princess Diana
Christmas time always is an opportunity for everyone to
ripple God’s goodness in a gathering of gifts for our
less fortunate brothers and sisters.
West
Negros University, this year launches its 3rd
“Be a Star This Christmas”, a project first conceived by
WNU President, Dr. Suzette Lilian A. Agustin which aims
to bring hope to other people by sharing the blessings
to WNU’s adopted communities, pastors, orphanages and
home for the aged.
Dr.
Agustin inspired the whole Wesnecan community
emphasizing that the best present a person can give to
other people is the gift of oneself. She earlier
underscored that even Christ gave Himself up without
reservation for all mankind.
This
project, also being a fund-raising activity is being
implemented by the Office of the Dean of Students,
University Student Government (USG) and the different
campus organizations.
The
launching was held at about 9:30 a.m., yesterday,
December 8, 2009 at the school’s main building lobby
which was attended by members of the administration,
middle managers, deans, directors, faculty, staff and
students.
A
minimum of P10.00 for a star bearing the names of the
donor will be immediately hanged to the giant Christmas
tree after the launching.
Mr.
Elmer J. Bolivar, VP for Administration expressed that
the project gave the Wesnecans an opportunity and the
privilege to share God’s blessings.
“We
developed among the Wesnecan community the vice of
caring, sharing, helping and giving especially to those
who need help the most,” he added. It is not the amount
that we give but the happiness that we get from offering
what is in us to the less fortunate.
Proceeds of the project will be shared to children and
families of WNU adopted communities, particularly on
building a Pre-School for the children in Purok Tonggoy,
Brgy. Mandalagan.
Everyone is encouraged to share in this season of hope,
