West
Negros University (WNU) was awarded by the Philippine
Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on
accreditation (PACUCOA) as an institution with the
highest number of accredited programs in Region VI.
The
award was given during the 20th Annual
General Assembly and 36th Anniversary of the
institution with the theme: Quality assurance through
outcomes-based evaluation.
The
following programs and majorings accredited by the
institution are the following: Level II 5th
RA (re-accredited) – Liberal Arts, Business
Administration, Bachelor of Elementary Education,
Bachelor of Secondary Education; Level II 1st RA –
Master of Arts in Education, Master of Public
Administration; Level I Formal – Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Information Technology; Candidate – Ph.D. in Educational
Management, Nursing, BS Mathematics, BS Psychology.
WNU
is the only academic institution in Region VI which has
the most number of accredited programs with 14 followed
by John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (2), John B.
Lacson Foundation Maritime University, Arevalo, Iloilo
City (2), St. Therese – MTC College, Tigbauan Iloilo
(2), University of Iloilo (2), St. Therese-MTC College,
Iloilo City (1) and John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime
University in Molo, Iloilo with one accredited program,
among others.
The
theme, according to PACUCOA press release served as an
evaluation paradigm that looks not only on the inputs,
processes and outputs but most importantly on the
results.
