  Quo vadis, Ernie...

The Renaissance Man. The Front liner. The Family man. Mr. Ernesto Piansay Arbolario, dynamic and agile at 59, is currently serving the Wesnecans in the comforts of his new home, the College of Business and Management.

He is an enthusiast on education. He was an American Field Scholar in Coming Painted Post, West High School, New York, U.S.A. in the early 60’s. He took his pre-med in the University of the Philippines in 1967. He graduated Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Economics in University of the East in 1970. He took up units in Master of Business Administration in Ateneo de Manila University in 1974-1976, continued his Master’s degree in University of St. La Salle in 2003-2004. At the present, he is taking up Doctor of Philosophy in Business and Management in University of St. La Salle.

He started working in West Negros College in 1992. He started as Vice-Chairman in the Board of

Trustees. He is professor in Management. He was also the Administrative Director of L.N. Agustin Memorial Hospital (Now, the Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital) from 1992-2000. In 1999, he became the Executive Assistant to the President for External Affairs.

He is married to Maria Lidia Arbolario, a father of four and the “big brother” of Madam Suzette. He’s passionate about music and writing. He love challenges. Despite his hectic schedule, he can still wear a smile at the end of the day. Once he starts talking, you’ll be dumbfounded of his ideals. He’s just plain smart.

“Apportioning time on priorities on both short-term and long-term basis,” that’s what he said when it comes to managing the three positions on which he is the head – (Executive Assistant to the President for External Affairs, Dean: CBM, Moderator: The Wesneco Torch).

He is now stressing on faculty development, which he considered a challenge when he took over as dean. He wants the faculty to do research projects according to their areas of specialization. When asked about his message to his new family in the CBM, he said, “Let’s be equipped toward excellence.”

Sir Ernie is –

We interviewed some people who worked behind The Man. His colleagues, some of the faculty and staff, and students. Here’s what they have to say…

“Her personifies the words: eloquence, finesse, and command. Having him around makes you raise your standard.” – Vladimir Cebu, Marketing Consultant, WNC

“Sir Ernie is a kind-hearted person, He’s very dedicated to his work. He is a serious man, and a God-fearing person.” – Rosemarie Abenir, Secretary, CBM

“God-fearing, strong-willed and a goal seeker. He is very optimistic in everything. He is a result-oriented individual and a fast pacer. He faces challenges with dynamism. He will always be the brother of Madam…” – Glori-Edna Libo-on, Faculty, A&S

“For the 3 years that I’ve been working for him, he is an easy person to be with. He is approachable and accommodating to all. He is always ready to help. He is perfectionists and wants everything to be in order.” – Caren, Student Assistant, CBM

As Wesneco Torch Moderator…

“Dean Arbolario pretty much leaves the Torch people to exercise creativity in publishing their issues. This gives us a wide berth to experiment different approaches to campus journalism. He is the class of Moderator who constantly challenges your ingenuity. This can prove to be daunting to some, leaving you much on your own to come up with significant issues, but it kept us on our toes and our juices revving. There is so much learning with Sir Ernie around. And when he throws you his brand of dry humor, and you are not quick enough to digest it as such, you are left with a nagging thought whether he paid you a straight compliment or something else.” – Jong Poblador, Editor-in-Chief, TWT

“Very optimistic person. No matter how tough the situation is, he maintains his composure… He’s also approachable and easy to be with. You can converse with him on any topic. He will not hesitate to share his views…” – Yasha Po, Associate Ed., TWT
