Ecogarden

This project focuses on biodiversity conservation and education program.  It showcases diverse species of plants and animals and serves as a laboratory where students can study different aspects of plant and animal life and how they interact in nature.

Ecogarden was launched July 7, 1997 opened to the public on December 1, 1997 with a theme “I CARE, I Share… adopt a Plant/ Animal Program. It is strategically located in Brgy. Mandalagan, a refuge in the midst of the hustles of the City and a haven meant to be relished.

A profusion of flora and fauna is found in the place, located within a one-hectare facility equipped with a mini-zoo, botanical garden and museum for wildlife. Initially, the place was used as a garbage dumping site and how it evolves to this date is a testimony that greater things can be done when people worked together for a common cause.

Purposely, Ecogarden was established to:

  1. Promote public awareness and participation in environmental protection and conservation.
  2. Serve as showcase of different plants and animals.
  3. Serve as learning center for students to study different aspects of plants and animal life and how they relate in nature.
  4. Serve as rescue and captive breeding center to some endemic and endangered Philippine wildlife.

Some of its major activities include:

  1. Conducts educational tours for students in all level.
  2. Conducts research works on plant and animal life.
Publishes reading materials that will encourage public awareness and participation in environmental protection and conservation program. Holds special activities from time to time.
