the seminar workshop on Biodiversity
Conservation and Community – Based
Researches at President’s Board Room
on October 10 and 11, 2008.
The two-day workshop
aims to encourage the faculty and
students of West Negros University
to be involved in community-based
researches, to promote researches in
the school’s existing projects and /
or sites to maximize learning and
enhance the dynamics of that
specific projects and strengthen
existing linkages thru partnership
in researches.
Topics discussed were
“Overview on Biodiversity” by
Marisol Pedregosa Hospordarsky of
the Wildlife Society of the
Philippines; On-going and possible
Researches by Ma. Renee Lorica,
Field Researcher of the Flora &
Fauna International; Conservation
Captive Breeding by Joanne Mae Justo,
curator of Negros Forest Ecological
Foundation.
Victoria Demonteverde,
associate director of the Research
Development and Extension Office
discussed “Environmental Education
and Other Researchable areas in the
Ecogarden”, “Ethno-botanical
Resource Management & Utilization”
and “Rapid Propagation Techniques
for Vetiber Grass: Its application
to Soil Erosion Control”.
Meanwhile, Sharon Pepito,
Community Extension Coordinator,
talked about the “Impact Evaluation
of Community Outreach Programs”.
