the Eco-Expo Asia 2008, an
International Trade Fair on
Environmental Protection at Asia
World-Expo in Hongkong last October
28-31.

joined other participants from
different countries and regions in
Asia.
Demonteverde said the session involved Energy
Efficiency, Waste Management and
Recycling and Green Building.
Different products related to
environmental protection such as
Environmental Industry Directory
2008, renewable energy,
biodegradable waste and recycling
were exhibited, she added. She said
the conference focused on the Air
Quality, Eco-friendly Product,
Energy Efficiency and Waste and
Recycling.
Air Quality is associated to air pollution and
gas emission control, air
purification, filtration and
deodorization technology and
equipment, desulphurization and dust
control technology and equipment,
gas smoke chemical monitoring and
treatment equipment.
Meanwhile, topics on Eco-friendly Product
discussed on products made of
biodegradable and eco-friendly raw
materials for construction ands
fitting, “Energy Efficiency” relates
to the efficient application of
energy in architecture, vehicles and
use of energy saving devices.
Waste and Recycling relates to the biological
treatment equipment, oil recycling
technology, solid waste treatment,
incineration and recycling systems,
transport, collection, and sorting
of waste.
“With the insights from the seminar, we hope to
improve our ecological waste
management program and be able to
pilot the use of renewable energy
within the campus”, Demonteverde
said.
Meanwhile, Sobremisana said WNU has been
practicing some of the technique
discussed during the conference
particularly those of ecological
waste management and energy audit.
The new technique presented in the seminar will
further improve the ecological waste
management practices of the school.
Anissa Wong, Permanent Secretary for the
Environmental Protection was the
keynote speaker of the conference.
The Eco-Expo is Hongkong’s first
international trade fair on
environmental protection, an
organizer said.
Representatives from the Hongkong Productivity
Council, Green Council, Greenpeace
and Kelcroft E and M. Ltd. Shared
their knowledge on eco-design, the
green label scheme, choosing ancient
forest-friendly paper and energy
efficiency.
